How to Install Windows XP
Installing Windows XP (Home or Professional Edition) can be very simple, even for those without much experience working with computers.
Installing Windows XP directly from a disc onto a clean, Un-partitioned, un-formatted hard drive.
Ø Ensure that your computer meets the minimum requirements to install windows XP.
v  300 MHz AMD or Intel CPU
v  128 MB of RAM
v  1.5 GB of drive space
v  VGA Display Adapter (800x600)
v  CD or DVD-ROM
v  Keyboard, mouse, or other devices
v  Network Interface Adapter required for Internet and Network Connectivity
Ø Ensure you have a window XP Product Key.
v  It is printed on pouch of CD or software package.
v  It is string of 5 groups of characters separated by dashes(-)
v  It looks like this.
S/N: V7BWD-G9YR6-9FG87-8Q2HV-YJGTG
Ø Before placing the CD, you setup your BIOS & select your primary boot device as CD-ROM or DVD-ROM
v  Now place XP installation Disk into CD-ROM and start your computer
v  It prompted to “press any key to boot from CD…”
v  Press any key to continue.
Ø The installation program will check your hardware, install default drivers and load files which are necessary for installation.
v  A new screen will show written on top “welcome to setup”.
v  Press ENTER to continue installation.
Ø Read the license agreement and press F8 which show you are agree with these terms.
v  If you select “ESC” you’re not agree with terms and installation will be stop.
v  “Page down=next”  page for reading terms.(page down button is place upside of arrow keys)
Ø  On the next screen, you will see the summary of available partitions on your installed hard drives.
v  Here you can create drives like (C:, D:, or E:,)
v  To create a partition press “C”
v  Enter the size of partition in MB
v  Press enter to continue your new partition will be created.
ØIn the next screen your partition will be created & you will be now at the partition summary again
v  Select your new partition.
v  Usually labeled “C: partition 1 [new <raw>]
ØPartition format option:
v  Format the partition using NTFS File system(NTFS is preferred method)
v  Format the partition using FAT File system
v  Press enter to continue
ØThe system will now format the partition.
v  The length of time this process requires depends on the speed and size of the drive and the type of file system.
ØWindow will start copying files from CD Drive.
v  It will prompt you to reboot your computer when copying complete.
v  Press enter when you to restart your system prompt.
v  Other wise it will do so after 15 seconds automatically.
Ø When system restart again do not press any key 
v  This is the most time consumption part 
v  Allow the computer to boot from hard drive.  Then :
v  You will be greeted with windows XP boot screen.
 Ø  Now the installation will show many marketing information to you as it install and   configures itself to your system.
v  The estimated time displayed in the lower left corner.
Ø A dialogue window will appear sooner , asking to choose your regional setting.
v  Select appropriate setting related to your area.
v  Click the next button when it is completed.
Ø A windows will display and asking you to put your product key
v  Setup can not completing without entering a valid product key
v  Click next to continue
Ø A new box will appear and ask you “to select your time zone
v  Click next to continue.
Ø Installation will show you a another dialogue box.
v  Typical setting or custom setting
v  select typical setting.
Ø congratulations! You have installed windows XP.
v  There are a few more additional set-up routines required
v  You have completed the installation.
v  Remove the windows CD from the CD-Drive.
Ø Your system will reboot .
v  Click yes when system prompt you “windows will be changing your visual setting to improve quality”
Ø A new window prompted that who will use this computer?
v  Enter your name and the name of other who will be using the computer.
